How to Achieve Timeless Looking Couple Photos

You’re investing quite some money in your photos, so make sure they are timeless by choosing the right outfits! Trust me on this one.

If you get anything from this blog post its this: OVERLY BRIGHT+ NEON COLORS aren’t your photo session friends.

I get it, overly bright colors may be trending, but will they for years to come? Maybe not!

Keep your clothing choices to a neutral color palette!

Of course, these are only example colors! These are NOT the rule.

Other colors I recommend are navy blues, deep greens, beige, cremes, pearls, deep maroons, grays, browns + tans, mustard yellows, pastels - think baby blue + pink, or one of my favorites blush pink!

Why do colors matter?

After several photo sessions with different clients I began to notice a pattern.

The colors you wear + the locations you choose affect the colors reflected onto your skin and the overall tint/look of a photo.

For example, a bright neon red/orange shirt might cause an overall red tint in a subjects skin: making it harder to color correct in post editing. It can also be very distracting in the photo. Eyes should be drawn immediately to YOU in a photo - eliminating distracting colors will help with this!

Other suggestions:

Keep your own color palette to a minimum. Max amount of colors should be kept to 3-4 to minimize distractibility. Below are some examples of a timeless outfit color palette!

But, I should wear what I want though, right?

YES! Of course, these are merely my suggestions. I don’t want you to feel constrained to this “neutral color palette” idea. After all, this is your photo shoot!

If timeless photos are the main goal, then, consider the suggestions listed here!
