Elegant Multicultural Destination Wedding at Huize Frankendael in Amsterdam
As a wedding photographer based in Amsterdam, I’ve had the privilege of documenting some of the most stunning celebrations, and one of them was Paula and Neil’s summer destination wedding at Huize Frankendael - a truly special day. From the modern yet elegant styling and intimate outdoor ceremony set within lush gardens, to the beautifully curated al fresco dinner, every part of the day felt intentional, effortless, and deeply personal. But beyond the aesthetics, it was the almost tangible sense of togetherness and joy that made this wedding so memorable — and created some of our favorite moments to document.
Guests traveled from all over the world to celebrate alongside them, including Singapore, the Philippines, the United States, Sweden, and Canada, while others joined from different parts of the Netherlands. The entire day carried an atmosphere of warmth and synergy from beginning to end, exactly as Paula and Neil had envisioned.
From our very first meeting, they spoke about creating more than just a beautiful wedding day. What mattered most to them was bringing all of their favorite people together in one place — not only to celebrate their relationship, but also the richness of culture, connection, and shared experience. That spirit could be felt in every part of the celebration, from the emotional ceremony to the long, lingering dinner conversations beneath the trees.

The Intimate Wedding Experience:
Paula and Neil truly embraced the beauty of an intimate wedding celebration - one centered around presence, connection, and intention. The day unfolded naturally through a slower, more flexible timeline, creating space for meaningful moments to happen organically rather than feeling rushed from one event to the next. It allowed the couple to be fully present with the people they love most, and for guests to experience the day not as spectators, but as part of it.
Their ceremony was deeply emotional from beginning to end. There were few dry eyes as the groom’s father and the bride’s mother shared heartfelt stories and personal anecdotes from Paula and Neil’s lives and relationship, bringing both laughter and tears to the ceremony.
As the evening settled in, guests gathered outdoors for an al fresco dinner surrounded by lush summer greenery and an artfully curated tablescape. Sculptural floral arrangements added a whimsical softness to the gardens while still feeling refined and elegant - perfectly complementing the atmosphere of the day. Long conversations, shared bottles of wine and even shots of tequila, and the joyful hum of dinner beneath the trees gave the evening a feeling that was both effortless and deeply personal - the kind of celebration where everyone wants to linger just a little longer.
