Civil Wedding in Utrecht, The Netherlands

As a wedding photographer based in Europe, more specifically in the Netherlands, trust me when I say, YES, your civil marriage should be celebrated like a real wedding day! Cody and Anna are an international couple from California and The UK respectively who met at the University of Utrecht during a study abroad program. Since meeting, they knew they’d found their person. Fortunately, their family was able to join them on their day! It all began at the couple’s apartment overlooking the city of Utrecht where the groom got dressed. Later we photographed the beautiful Anna getting ready with her equally beautiful sisters, mom, and mother-in-law at Mother Goose Hotel. The room was filled with so much excitement as all the ladies did their make-up and helped each other get ready. One of my favorite moments of their day was their first look. It was the sweetest, even more so seeing their family beyond excited, holding their phones up and documenting the moment. It showed how much this couple is loved and supported! We then made our way down to the Utrecht Stadhuis where the wedding party listened to the couple’s love story, heartfelt vows were shared, love and joy filled the room with no dry eye in sight. So grateful I got to document those moments for them! Finally, we walked towards the Pandhof van de Dom where we took family photos and the couple’s portraits. We roamed the idyllic streets of Utrecht along the Oudegracht to wrap up couples portraits and grab a coffee!

This intimate civil wedding was a testament to love, family, and connection. I’m grateful to have been part of Cody and Anna’s special day and to witness the warmth and joy that surrounded them.
